The Portwest A197 is an uncoated antistatic shell glove for handling sensitive electronic components. Its polyester and carbon fibre blend helps dissipate static charge and reduces direct contact between assemblies and the natural oils on the skin. The knitted construction suits light inspection and detailed assembly work.
Construction and handling
- Seamless 13-gauge liner with elastic for flexibility and a close fit.
- Uncoated palm and fingers retain the feel of the knitted shell.
- Low-lint construction helps limit loose fibres around components.
- Suitable for use with most mobile touchscreen devices.
- Supplied as one pair.
Standards and use
The glove is rated EN 388:2016+A1:2018 113XX and is listed to EN 16350:2014 and IEC 61340-5-1:2016. The wearer must be properly earthed, with clothing and footwear selected to suit the electrostatic risk.
These are ESD handling gloves and do not provide electrical insulation for live working. Inspect before use: wear, damage and contamination can reduce electrostatic performance. Replace damaged gloves and follow Portwest’s instruction not to wash or dry clean them.
